Rev. Carolyn Moore
Carolyn Moore has served for twenty-two years as an ordained Elder in the United Methodist Church. For five years, she served as an associate pastor at Athens First UMC in Athens, Georgia, starting a contemporary service as an outreach for the church in an historic vaudeville theater. In 2003, she was appointed to Evans, Georgia to plant a new church. Carolyn and her family have served Mosaic Church joyfully since this work began. Carolyn was born and raised in Augusta, Georgia and graduated from the University of Georgia (B.A. – Religion, 1985) and Asbury Theological Seminary (Masters of Divinity, 1998; and Doctor of Ministry, 2018). Her doctoral degree focused on church planting with an emphasis on how women lead. In addition to serving as a pastor, Carolyn writes on issues related to holiness, healing and Wesleyan theology at artofholiness.com, where she also co-hosts a podcast with her son-in-law. She is the author of four Bible studies (Encounter Jesus, Encounter the Spirit and Encounter the Father, published through Seedbed; and Supernatural, also published by Seedbed) and one book (The 19, published through Abingdon). Forthcoming is a book on how women lead, which flows from her doctoral study. She serves as Vice-Chair of the Wesleyan Covenant Association Council and on the Board of TMS Global and the UGA Wesley Foundation. She is actively involved with the teaching team of New Room, and co-hosts The Art of Holiness podcast (a New Room Network podcast) with Pierce Drake. Carolyn has been joyfully married since 1985 to Steve Moore, a U.S. History teacher at Greenbrier High School in Evans. Their daughter, Claire, is a graduate of Reinhardt University. She is married to Pierce Drake, who serves on staff as a local pastor at Providence United Methodist Church in Mt. Juliet, Tennessee
