Dr. Chris Bounds

Chris BoundsChris Bounds is Professor of Theology at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he has taught since 2002 and is an Ordained Elder in the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church. Prior to coming to Indiana Wesleyan, he served as a pastor for eight years.

He earned a B.A. degree in Bible and Greek from Asbury University, an M. Div. degree with an emphasis in doctrinal studies from Asbury Theological Seminary, and an M. Phil. and Ph. D. degrees in Theological and Religious Studies from Drew University with a focus in Systematic Theology.

He has published articles in popular and scholarly venues, including the Asbury Theological Journal, Catalyst” Contemporary Evangelical Perspectives for United Methodist Seminarians, East-West Church and Ministry Report, Expository Times, Good News Magazine, Religious Studies Review, Studia Pastristica, The Wesleyan Theological Journal, and Wesley and Methodist Studies.

He has also contributed chapters or articles to popular and academic books, including Straight Talk, Scholars Coming To Faith, Recovering the Wesleyan Social Witness, Treasure the Word: A Layperson’s Guide to Interpreting Scripture, Holiness: The Power to Transform You, Your Church, and Your World, Care of Creation: Christian Voices on God, Humanity, and the Environment, ReThinking Wesleyan Theology, Dictionary of Everyday Theology and Culture and Dictionary of Christian Education.

He presently serves on the Board of Trustees at Asbury University, the Board of Trustees for One Mission Society (OMS International) and as a fellow for Third Millennium Faith. He has also served on the Board of Directors for Good News: A Forum for Scriptural Christianity.

Chris regularly preaches and lectures on university and college campuses, as well as speaks at local church and denominational forums in the United States and other countries. As a pastor and theologian, he has a passionate commitment to the doctrine and experience of holiness.

He and his wife, Tamara have been married for 17 years and have two children, a daughter, Maris; and a son, Morgan.
