Dr. Hubert Harriman

Dr. Tom Hermiz Hubert Harriman was born and raised in Bolivia, South America, where his parents served as missionaries, giving him fluency in Spanish. Hubert and Sarah have been married since 1974 and are blessed with 3 daughters and 3 sons-in-law (each walking with the Lord), and 9 grandchildren (3 children per family).

Hubert received his B.A. in Bible/Missions at Vennard College in 1971. After doing some graduate work in Historical Geography at the Institute of Holy Land Studies (now called Jerusalem University College, 1972-1973), he received his M.A. in Religion at the Anderson School of Theology in 1975. Hubert has received two honorary doctorates conferred by Wesley Biblical Seminary in 2004 and Universidad Evangelica Boliviana in 2016.

The Harrimans served in Argentina, with (WGM) World Gospel Mission, prior to moving to Ligonier, IN where Hubert served as senior pastor of the Ligonier Evangelical Church for 26 years. Their church thrived on worship, discipleship, fellowship, service, and missionary outreach. During that time, he also served on the WGM Board of Directors. In 2002 he was elected as the president of WGM and served in this capacity for 14 years (2002-2016). On his retirement from this responsibility, the WGM Board of Directors conferred on him the titles of WGM President Emeritus, and WGM Ambassador at Large. He presently serves on the board of the Universidad Evangelica Boliviana (UEB).

Hubert and Sarah have been blessed with years filled with travel, preaching, teaching, ministry, adventure, and friendships around the world. They presently live in Upland, Indiana and especially enjoy times of interaction and fellowship, in and outside their home, with friends, small group gatherings, and with students attending Taylor and Indiana Wesleyan universities. Their lives are filled with purposeful time with their three daughters and their families—which takes them to Ligonier, Indiana, Wilmore, Kentucky and St. Louis, Missouri, on a regular basis. Presently, their oldest grandchild is living with them, to help her as she does graduate work at IWU. Their commitment is to house her through this three-year program. In his spare time, Hubert enjoys yard work, clearing paths in the woods, taking walks, preparing presentations, reading, writing poetry and watching a good movie with Sarah. They both enjoy exercise walking together through each week and have, over many years now, used this time to pray together for their children and grandchildren.

Presently serving as a speaker for FAS, Hubert’s first calling is to preach, and he feels that call stirring in his heart in a fresh way. He deeply cares about the message of Scriptural holiness and has faithfully preached it down through his ministry; bringing people to the reality of a life so transformed that they are, by God’s grace, able to live wholly devoted to God.
